Construction
With this set, we start with the base of the locomotive and attach the wheels straight away. If these are correctly aligned and none of the axles protrude, they run very smoothly. Inside the locomotive there are small details such as piles of coal and a fire on the boiler. After further small details, you are faced with the question of whether you want to attach the stickers. I decided against it because some parts are printed. This includes the number on the front. In the end, we get a beautiful and stable BR52, which unfortunately is missing the tender.
Next it’s the gun’s turn. Technik bars are used for the frame to give the whole thing stability. Brackets are used to tile it all around and add various details. The long gun is supported by axles so that it doesn’t constantly fall apart, as is the case with other manufacturers. The mechanism for raising and lowering is also solved using Technik components and works excellently. Finally, we build the two carriages on which the gun rests. The rear carriage has a movable surface to connect the crane to the gun when no curves need to be driven. Unfortunately, I don’t have a railway on which I can test the long gun. But it will probably be difficult to drive through curves.
Conclusion:
With around 1600 parts, I expected a much smaller model. For a relatively small price, you get a very large model that not only looks good, but is also very sturdy.
