Construction
Since the model is very flat, only a few layers of plates and tiles are used here. The whole thing is stabilized by numerous special tiles from COBI. More than 100 small beads then ensure that the direction of construction can be reversed. This is almost like punishment. The undercarriage cannot be retracted, of course. The model is much too thin in these places for that. To simulate a retracted undercarriage, tiles were included that can be placed in place of the undercarriage.
The nose cannot be made with regular bricks. Two large molded parts are used here. You have to look more closely to see that these are interlocking bricks and not model construction. The jet of the running engines is created with orange and transparent components. The model is fully printed and you can choose between the USAF and NASA versions. The appropriate pilot is also included for each version. The Executive Edition has a very special, fully built stand that you won’t find on any other model.
Conclusion:
The model is basically quite stable. This is ensured by the special, flat tiles from COBI. However, here and there parts tend to fall off if you touch it in the wrong places. This is particularly the case with the engine attachments. In order to present the model appropriately, with a length of just under 72cm, sufficient space must be made available.
