COBI 5837 – A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog (Speed Build Review)

The biggest change in this remake is the color. Otherwise, the well-known ground attack aircraft offers only minimal design changes and more molded parts than its predecessor.

Construction

As with other aircraft with kinked wings, we first build the middle section, to which the wings will later be attached via hinges. These are then fixed from both sides and thus remain in position. The cockpit consists almost entirely of molded parts. The pilot has no legs and, for reasons of space, is only put on a plate with his upper body. The elevator at the stern is built entirely out of bricks. The delicate rudders are made of molded parts. The landing gear does not retract fully and looks more like a design flaw.

The most striking thing about this ground attack aircraft are the two large engines on the rear of the fuselage. For the stand, COBI uses the usual construction, which I again slightly modify in order to tilt the aircraft forward. As a result, you can see it on the shelf not only from below.

Conclusion:

As beautiful as the model may be. It’s just a remake with a different color and minimal changes. I would have preferred a new model with a different role model. COBI is currently making too many remakes for me, which are not worth it for collectors due to the small changes. Of course, the high price also plays its part.
