Construction
Despite numerous different details, the construction of COBI ships is very similar. The hull is built in several stages and then connected. Countless brackets are used to attach the side hull parts. Before this, however, two lifting platforms are integrated, which can later be used to lift aircraft onto the runway.
The deck is built separately in large pieces. Numerous printed parts are also used. After all, COBI has not used stickers for years. The deck parts for the bow and stern are a bit fiddly to place. 4 supports have to be attached to the bottom of the hull and these are difficult to reach with your fingers. Figures are not included in this set. However, there is a stand and 8 small airplanes.
Conclusion:
Compared to the other aircraft carriers from COBI, the Akagi is slightly smaller. With more than 3500 parts, it contains more details. Even though the price is very high, you get a beautiful model that also offers long-lasting building fun.
