COBI 2710 – PzKpwf VI Tiger 131 (Speed Build Review)

There was already a tiger in 1:48 scale, but not yet in the historical 131 variant. Despite its small size, it has a lot of details and interesting building techniques to offer.

Construction

For once, let’s not start with the obligatory plates for the hull. The base is turned by 90° and thus gets a smooth, stud-free surface. Three rows consist of bricks for reversing the direction of construction, on which the hull is then built. Half of the mounts for the rollers consist of the typical Plate Modified. The rest is built from 2 special parts and placed on brackets on the side. Thanks to large bricks, the hull is quickly completed and can be completely tiled.

It continues on the underside of the little Tiger. 4 gear wheels and 16 rollers are attached, onto which the chains are then pulled. Not the smallest tracks are used. Initially the rear chain guard prevented a clean run as it wobbles around freely. But after the two indicated side skirts were attached, freedom of movement was restricted and the tracks ran perfectly on any surface. In the rear area, the decoration typical of the Tiger 131 is now attached.

It’s time for the turret, which consists primarily of reversals and slopes. The designation 131 is printed on 3 sides. In the last step, only the gun barrel is put together and the finished turret can be placed on the hull.

Conclusion:

We haven’t had a 1:48 scale Tiger 131 yet and the result is impressive. For a model of this size, the shape and details are excellent. The price/performance ratio is also right here.
